TEETHING OIL

There is something about the night that brings out sensitives. Be it a full moon, a creaking house or a teething baby/toddler, the nighttime is full of stories that spark an ancestral line or wake a deliriously tired parent. I’ve been there, and hang in mama/daddy…I miss the sweet cuddles in the wee hours of the night but I do not miss lack of sleep! That being said, those gums are sore when a tooth is making its way out. Ouch! Good thing most babies don’t remember the pain associated with getting their teeth.

When my girls were experiencing a new tooth, I gently rubbed this oil on their gums and it helps numb the pain. Be careful with the clove oil as it is STRONG! Only a few drops and always mix it with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil (this stays liquid at cooler temperatures) or olive oil. When giving this to children under 2, please be aware of any food allergies, that is why I usually always like coconut oil or olive oil. And with all my recommendations, use organic to avoid any risks associated with conventional products use of pesticides, fungicides, etc.

Also, with clove oil, you can use Q-tips to drop the mixture onto the cotton swab and then rub on the gums. Make sure to not rub on the lips or face, and wash your hands afterwards, this can irritate the skin and the eyes. I also don’t want to scare you, as this mixture is soothing the delicate gums very effectively and I still use it with my double-digit kids and adult friends/parents!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 drops Clove Oil*, organic essential oil

  • 2 Tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil, you can use EVOO as well

PREPARATION

  1. Using a darker dropper bottle* and proper funnel, pour 1 tablespoon of oil of choice.

  2. Using an organic essential clove oil, carefully drop 2 droplets into container.

  3. Add the last 1 tablespoon of oil.

  4. Place dropper on bottle and seal it closed.

  5. Shake up and use when needed.

  6. Placing 1-2 drops of oil on a Q-tip and rub onto gums/sensitive tooth

  7. Wash hands well to avoid any contamination

  8. Enjoy some sweet sleeps!

TIPS

*Clove oil is a strong oil and more than this can cause burns, always wash any area other than the gums/tooth with warm water and soap to avoid contamination

**Using a dark dropper bottle helps retain the oils from degradation
