Depending on any moment in time or things happening in our lives, emotions always come into play. In any given moment we can experience a variety of emotions and those emotions sometimes can have an impact on the choices you lean into when choosing what to eat or drink. Those choices may then make us either fill up with lovely nutrients that enter all the cells of our body to fuel it or it can weigh us down and cause a downward cascading effect of harmful ingredients that can start a negative cycle from within. As we enter deeper into Fall, we are also approaching a busy next few months that may be full of holiday celebrations, work and family get-togethers, and this may also offset our “normal” menu offering.

Every choice leads to a path and there are SO many options, twists, turns and even forks. But please know…that the human body is incredibly resilient and it wants to survive and will do everything possible to accomplish this basic, but necessary goal. So, how do we feed it best when we may be in the slumps or incredibly exuberant and wanting to celebrate?

Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing some fun recipes, guidelines, and other health tips to help you navigate this time. Let’s start this weekend with three daily practices:

  • Start the day with prayer and gratitude, allow yourself to focus on positive thoughts for 5-10 minutes upon waking

  • Middle of the day, pause and feed your microbiome. Choosing a fermented food like kombucha, kefir, pickled veggies or taking a probiotic (use promo code richelle10 for 10% off) are some great ways to support your gut.

  • End your day with a glass of water (8-12 fluid ounces) with electrolytes. My favorite is unflavored Re-Lyte. The micronutrients in this mixture helps feed and fuel your cells to better absorb all the other nutrients and holistically supports your body's systems.

See how you feel come Monday, Veteran’s Day. Thank you to those men and women who serve and continue to serve this US of A. Thank you for your sacrifices, for your families that also support you while you serve all of us, and for supporting this great nation.

Stay healthy and I look forward to starting this journey of better choices with you…
